Adjective Meaning

Adjective Definition -

An Adjective is a describing word. It qualifies or modifies a noun or a pronoun.

Examples -

1. Mohan is a tall boy.
2. Radha is intelligent.
3. I have a red pen.

Kinds or types of Adjective

 

1. Adjectives of Quality - Adjectives of Quality refer to some quality of the noun or pronoun.

  Examples -

1. A busy road
2. An old lady
3. a young writer 
4. A brave soldier.

 2. Adjectives of Quantity - They refer to how much of a thing.

  Examples -

1. Some rice
2. Little problem
3. No love
4. A little knowledge
5. Enough money

 3. Adjectives of Number - They show how many person or things are.

Examples -

(i) Definite - refers exact number -

Examples -

1. Three boys
2. First row
3. Double money
4. Last row

 (ii) Indefinite - don't refer exact number -

Examples -

1. Few people
2. All men
3. Some boys

4. Possessive Adjectives - They show possession. (अधिकार, संबंध)

Examples -

1. My father
2. His car
3. Your book

 5. Demonstrative Adjectives- Demonstrative Adjectives are used to point out something.

Examples -

1. This book.
2. That tree.
3. These pens.
4. Those cows

6. Interrogative Adjectives - The question words with a noun or pronoun ask question.

Examples -

1. Whose book is this?
2. Which pen is yours?
3. What gift will you buy?

7. Distributive Adjectives - Distributive Adjectives show a person or thing separately.

Examples -

1. Each girl.
2. Every book.
3. Either toy.
4. Neither person.

 8. Proper Adjectives -  8. Proper Adjectives come from proper noun.

2. The Italian food.
3. Assam tea.
4. The French writer.
